Seeks further dev of Shopian town, extension of dev projects to newly-added town areas, Revision of Draft Master Plan
Srinagar: Socio-political activist Adv Ovais Khan on Thursday called on Director Urban Local Bodies Kashmir Ms. Masooma Mathura and Chief Town Planner Kashmir Ms. Bilkies Jeelani, to discuss issues of imminent importance pertaining to Shopian town.
Khan in an interaction with Director Urban Local Bodies Kashmir Ms. Masooma Mathura extended his gratitude to the officer for the recent developmental works across Shopian, especially with respect to the beautification, development of various projects and availability of basic facilities at various spots.
The known socio-political activist Mr. Khan urged the ULB Director Ms. Masooma for further development of Shopian town and also extension of existing developmental projects to newly-added areas including Memander, Pinjoora, Trapadpora, Arhama and Chowgam.
Mr. Khan urged for further development of lanes, drains, parks, installation of street lights, availability of hoopers and parking facilities across the district.
The Director ULB Ms. Masooma reciprocated well, assured Mr. Khan that the things highlighted will be taken into consideration duly.
In a separate meeting, Adv. Ovais Khan called on Chief Town Planner Kashmir Ms. Bilkies Jeelani and took up with her issues regarding the Draft Master Plan 2011. Mr. Khan apprised the chair that the people across Shopian were facing huge inconvenience due to the Draft Master Plan 2011 and sought a revision of the plan. “The people across the district are suffering for the hassle-free obtaining of permission of building construction,” Khan apprised Ms. Bilkies.
The Chair gave a patient hearing to the issue raised by Mr. Khan, assuring him that old-version of building bylaws will remain in force till a new revision is made in the Draft Master Plan.
“We are here to serve the people and whatever we can we will do to facilitate our people,” Ms. Bilkies remarked on the occasion.
