SRINAGAR: Abdul Jabbar Hajam, father-in-law of journalist Asif Iqbal, passed away on Thursday morning following a prolonged illness. He was 72.

Family sources said that the Abdul Jabbar had been unwell for a considerable period and breathed his last at his residence at around 7:30 am today.

The deceased, a resident of Jaggerpora Handwara, Kupwara was known for his sustained association with social activism and was widely regarded as a respected figure in his district. Over the years, he remained actively involved in welfare-oriented initiatives and was known among peers and acquaintances for his outreach and public engagement.

The funeral prayers are scheduled to be held at 11:30 am.

Meanwhile, condolences have poured in from different quarters, with people expressing grief over the demise and extending sympathies to the bereaved family. Many notable personalities have recalled his contribution to social causes and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul. (GNS)
