SHOPIAN: Intensifying efforts under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, Shopian Police, in coordination with the 14th Battalion of CRPF, has deployed its Narcotic Dog Squad to bolster action against drug trafficking in the district.
As part of a special enforcement drive, trained sniffer dogs have been stationed at multiple checkpoints to detect concealed narcotics. The canine unit is playing a key role in identifying hidden contraband, enabling timely recoveries and the apprehension of individuals involved in the illicit drug trade.
Officials said the initiative aims to disrupt the narcotics supply chain while acting as a strong deterrent to drug peddlers. Alongside enforcement measures, Shopian Police has also been conducting awareness campaigns to educate the public and promote the vision of a drug-free society.
Meanwhile, intensified vehicle checking operations are underway across the district. Suspicious vehicles are being thoroughly searched at designated naka points in strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Shopian Police reiterated its commitment to combating the drug menace and ensuring the safety and well-being of the community through all available resources.
