The Meteorological Center in Srinagar has issued a weather forecast for Jammu & Kashmir from 27th April to 5th May:

  • 27th April: Expect generally cloudy skies with light to moderate rain/snow in many areas, especially in higher reaches. Heavy rain, thunder, lightning, and hailstorms are possible in isolated places.
  • 28-29th April: The weather will remain generally cloudy with light to moderate rain/snow in most areas, with light snow in higher reaches. Thunderstorms, lightning, hailstorms, and gusty winds may occur in a few places. Heavy rain is likely in isolated areas of Jammu & Kashmir Division, particularly on 28th and 29th April.
  • 30th April: Cloudy conditions will persist with light rain and thunder in many places.
  • 1-5th May: Generally dry weather is expected during this period.

Advisory:

  • Farmers are advised to suspend farm operations until 30th April.
  • Temporary disruptions in traffic are expected over higher reaches like Zojila, Sinthan Pass, Mughal Road, Razdan Pass, etc.
  • Waterlogging may occur in low-lying areas.
  • There’s a possibility of landslides and shooting stones.
  • Temporary increases in water levels are anticipated in Jehlum, tributaries, local streams, and Nallas.
