Through the Eyes of Artist Mudasir Rehman Dar
Some images transcend borders, cultures, and generations. They become part of humanity’s collective memory, continuing to challenge, disturb, and inspire long after they are created. One such image is “The Vulture and the Little Girl,” the haunting 1993 photograph by South African photojournalist Kevin Carter, captured during the Sudan famine.
Through the lens of his camera, Carter documented a moment that would become one of the most powerful visual symbols of human suffering. The photograph earned the Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography in 1994 and sparked worldwide discussions about photojournalist, journalism, ethics, compassion, and humanity’s responsibility toward the vulnerable.
More than two decades later, the same image entered a new artistic dialogue through the work of Mudasir Rehman Dar, a Kashmir-based Contemporary Social Artist.
