SHOPIAN: In continuation of its sustained drive to ensure road safety and strict adherence to traffic rules, Shopian Police has intensified action against traffic violations involving both two-wheelers and four-wheelers across the district.

Issued statement reads that during the ongoing special enforcement drive, several motorists were challaned for violations such as riding without helmets, without seat belts, without valid driving licenses, improper documentation, overloading, rash driving and other traffic-related offences. The drive was conducted at multiple locations across the district with the aim of promoting responsible driving behaviour and reducing road accidents.

Shopian Police reiterates that wearing helmets is mandatory for two-wheeler riders and pillion passengers, while the use of seat belts is compulsory for drivers and passengers of four-wheelers. Driving without a valid license and necessary documents not only violates the law but also poses a serious risk to human lives, statement reads.
