SRINAGAR: Police in Jammu district have booked seven persons for allegedly violating the District Magistrate’s orders mandating tenant verification, according to a report published by Daily Excelsior.
Quoting police officials, Daily Excelsior reported that five FIRs were registered under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Bahu Fort Police Station, while two other individuals were booked under similar provisions at Channi Himmat Police Station.
Those booked at Bahu Fort Police Station were identified as Bahar Ahmed Naik of Khari, Ramban, presently residing at Pali Hill, Bathindi; Qiaser Nizami of Firdous Colony, Chand Pura, Srinagar, currently living at Pali Hill, Bathindi; Umer Jan of Bemina Housing Colony near Masjid Ibrahim, Srinagar, now residing at House No. 159-D, Pali Hill, Bathindi; Sajad Ahmed of Doda, presently staying at Bathindi Nallah, Barmini Road; and Sadam Hussain of Chachawah, Ramban, currently residing at Bathindi Nallah.
Besides, those booked at Channi Himmat Police Station were identified as Abdul Latief of Batyas, Gandoh, Bhallessa, Doda, presently residing at Ward No. 74, Street No. 110, Gujjar Colony, Channi Himmat, Jammu, and Sohail Qasim of House No. 5, Gujjar Colony, Channi Himmat, Jammu.
The cases were registered during a routine verification and enforcement drive aimed at ensuring strict compliance with tenant verification norms, particularly in view of the forthcoming Republic Day celebrations and related security arrangements.
The enforcement drive was carried out by the Station House Officers of Bahu Fort and Channi Himmat police stations under the supervision of SDPO City East and SP Jammu South Ajay Sharma, with overall supervision by SSP Jammu Joginder Singh.
Police have once again appealed to house owners to strictly adhere to tenant verification guidelines and cooperate with the authorities.
