SHOPIAN: A woman was injured after two masked persons allegedly entered a residential house and attempted a theft in the Shahlatoo area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday, officials said.
The incident occurred at the residence of Muhammad Abar Malik, a resident of Shahlatoo, when only his wife was present inside the house.
According to reports, the two unidentified persons entered the house wearing masks and allegedly attempted to commit theft. When the woman raised an alarm and cried for help, the intruders reportedly sprayed an unidentified substance into her eyes before fleeing from the spot.
The woman sustained injuries and discomfort following the incident.
Family members and locals shifted her to District Hospital Shopian for treatment, where she was undergoing medical care at the time of filing this report.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and started investigation to identify and trace the accused persons.
The incident created panic in the locality, with residents expressing concern over the attempted robbery in the area. [KNT]
