During the programme speakers highlighted the contribution of Mir Gh Rasool Nazki in the field of Kashmiri, Urdu and Persian literature.

Speaking on the occasion, Justice Bashir Ahmad Kirmani termed Nazki as a great poet of his times whose Ruba’ii (Quatrain) are second to none. He said in conventional and post modern sense his poetry opens vistas to an unending universe of possibilities and touches upon a spectrum of issues which span over social, religious , ethical , philosophical , meta-physical and above all real life issues.

He said despite assimilating influences across the board, it remains indubitable that he was influenced by Dr Iqbal to an incalculable extent and followed Alama Iqbal both at expression and ideological plane. “Like Alama Iqbal, Nazki also speaks of freedom, humanism, compassion and equality and despite imitation, he doesn’t sacrifice his individuality and own shade even while importing Iqbal to Kashmiri he maintains his uniqueness”.
