Exchange of fresh firing reported
Fresh firing between militants and security forces resumed at the site of the gunfight in South Kashmir’s Kulgam village, where a group of militants is believed to be trapped.
Local News Agency Kashmir Scroll quoted official as saying that the operation was suspended throughout the night and has been resumed with the first light of this morning.
The officer said that it is believed that militants are trapped in two houses.
Sounds of firing have been heard since early morning, but there are no reports of any militant bodies, he added.
On Thursday evening, a gunfight broke out between militants and security forces in Samno after the forces received specific input about the presence of some militants in the area.
Meanwhile, News Agency Kashmir Scroll quoted locals as saying that the firing resumed at the encounter site at around 6 a.m. this morning and has continued since then, even as the area remained under a tight cordon for the second consecutive day on Friday.
