Suggests coordinated efforts by involving transport unions, Govt Depts, J&K Police

Apni Party Spokesperson, Ms. Khushboo Bhagat today demanded stringent action under Motor Vehicle Act against the violation of traffic rules, rash driving, overloading and mess created by passenger vehicles in Kathua District that has led to death of two persons including an elderly woman in separate road mishaps in last 24 hours.

Ms Khushboo Bhagat expressed shock over the loss of life in the road mishaps because of the negligent driving and ignorance of the authorities.

As per the press releases issued here today, Ms. Bhagat said that the passenger vehicles especially battery – operated vehicles, mini-buses and autos have created problems that need to be channelized to avoid any untoward incident in future.

“The transport system should be monitored in Kathua to avoid road mishap on the interior and highways. The local police, civil administration, traffic police, and motor vehicle department have failed to keep check on the overloading, and rash driving,” she said.

She said that the concerned Govt Departments, and J&K Police wings should coordinate with each other to ensure proper implementation of road safety measures and check on the violators that have not happened till date.

“The Jammu-Pathankot is vulnerable to repeated road accidents in Kathua whereas the roads in the town have also become a major site for possible fatal road mishaps,” she further added.

She suggested that the Transport Unions, Govt Departments and J&K Police Wings should take a united effort to check on the traffic rule violators and take strict actions against the violators to ensure imposition of rules.

She further claimed that the battery – operated vehicles and mini – buses have been floating routes permit rules despite and the authorities have remained inactive, and no action has been taken against the violators.
