Srinagar: Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) besides Aam Aadmi Party on Sunday released the first lists of candidates, contesting elections scheduled to go underway from September 18, 2024.

Chief Secretary of Ghulam Nabi Azad led Democratic Progressive Azad Party, R.S Chib in a press communique announced a list of thirteen members of the party, mainly of whom are taking part in the first phase of the polls.

Among the candidates announced by the party, include; Abdul Majeed Wani (former Minister) from Doda (East), Mohammad Amin Bhat (former MLA) from Devsar, Mohammad Aslam Goni (former Adv General) from Bhaderwah, Adv Saleem Parray (DDC Member) from Dooru, Muneer Ahmad Mir from Lolab, Bilal Ahmad Deva (DDC Member) from Anantnag (West), Ghulam Nabi Wani (Nellora) from Rajpora (Nellora), Mir Altaf Hussain from Anantnag, Qaisar Sultan Ganai (Jin) from Ganderbal, Ghulam Nabi Bhat from Eidgah Srinagar, Amir Ahmad Bhat from Khanyar Srinagar, Nisar Ahmad Lone from Gurez and Peer Bilal Ahmad from Hazratbal Dargah.

Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi Party on the other side also released its first list of candidates.

Among the candidates contesting the polls on behalf of AAP, include; Fayaz Ahmad Sofi from Pulwama, Mudasir Hassan from Rajpora, Sheikh Fida Hussain from Devsar, Mohsin Shafkat Mir from Dooru, Mehraj Din Malik from Doda, Yasir Shafi Mattoo from Doda (West) and Mudassir Azmat Mir from Banihal.

Notably, the long-awaited assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir are to be held in three phases, starting September 18. The remaining two phases will be held on September 25 and October 1 respectively and counting on October 4, 2024.
