SRINAGAR: Authorities have intensified search operations for a minor boy who went missing after falling into the Rambiara stream at Dubjan in South Kashmir’s Shopian district during a family outing.
Officials said the child, Mohammad Hunzala of Tikkan in Pulwama district, was swept away by fast-flowing waters around four days ago while on a picnic near the area.
Search and rescue efforts led by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) Shopian have continued for the fourth consecutive day near Dubjan Bridge. Teams are conducting extensive downstream searches, but no trace of the child has been recovered so far.
Authorities said strong water currents and extremely cold glacial conditions are hampering the operation, making recovery efforts difficult despite sustained efforts since the incident.
Officials confirmed that the search operation remains underway. Meanwhile, authorities have appealed to the public to exercise caution near water bodies and ensure proper supervision of children to avoid such incidents. -(KL)
