SRINAGAR: A Srinagar court has remanded a former District Development Council (DDC) member to six days of judicial custody in connection with a complaint filed under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act.
The court of City Magistrate Srinagar, presided over by Tarun Mahajan (Civil Judge, Senior Division), passed the order after the accused, former DDC Member from Khimber, Qaiser Ahmad Ganai, son of Hafeez Ullah, was produced before it.
According to details, the case pertains to a complaint filed by Iezam Khan, son of Manzoor Ahmad Khan and a resident of Nishat, Srinagar. The accused, as per details available, had allegedly failed to appear before the court despite the issuance of multiple non-bailable warrants.
The accused was arrested by police in compliance with court directions and later produced before the court, which subsequently remanded him to six days of judicial custody and ordered that he be lodged in Central Jail Srinagar.
The matter is listed for further proceedings after completion of the judicial custody period. (KDC)
