Srinagar: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday ordered for the lifting of the Model Code of Conduct in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana, after the completion of the election process.
In a joint communique to the Chief Secretaries and Chief Electoral Officers of Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir, the ECI has, as per Press Exclusive, informed about the cease of Model Code of Conduct with immediate effect.
“Now that the results in respect of General Elections to Legislative Assemblies of the State of Haryana & UT of Jammu and Kashmir, have been declared by the concerned Returning Officers, the Model Code of Conduct has ceased to be in operation with immediate effect,” reads the communique, adding, “this may be brought to the notice of all concerned.”
