SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday attached multiple movable and immovable assets allegedly acquired disproportionate to the known sources of income of a former Naazir posted in the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, in connection with an ongoing corruption investigation.

The attached properties belong to Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat of Firdousabad, Batamaloo, who is facing investigation in FIR No. 09/2025 registered at Police Station ACB Srinagar under allegations of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

According to the ACB, the attached assets include a single-storey residential house with land at Firdousabad, Batamaloo, three separate parcels of land situated at Nambal, Nowgam, recorded in the names of the accused’s wife and daughter, besides approximately 1,266 grams of gold ornaments seized during the investigation.

The Bureau said the case was registered on May 22, 2025, following a secret verification into allegations that the public servant had accumulated wealth beyond his legitimate income while serving as Naazir in the Deputy Commissioner’s office.

During the investigation, ACB teams conducted searches at the accused’s residence and recovered copper utensils, gold ornaments and other luxury items, which were seized as part of the investigation. The accused was subsequently taken into custody and was later granted bail by the competent court.

The investigating agency said further probe revealed the existence of substantial movable and immovable assets allegedly disproportionate to the known sources of income of the accused. Acting on the approval of the competent authority, two teams headed by Deputy Superintendents of Police carried out the attachment proceedings at Batamaloo and Nowgam after completing the prescribed legal formalities.

The ACB said signboards have been erected at the attached properties to notify the public and advised people not to purchase, exchange or enter into any transaction involving the attached house or land until further orders.

The investigation in the case is continuing. [KNT]
