Srinagar: A man, acting as a ‘double agent’ has been booked for misleading enforcement agencies about counterfeit heroin in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
“On 26/3/2024, reliable information was received at PS Karnah that one Aazam Shah, son of Ghulam Hussain Shah, resident of Pingla Haridal is using urea fertilizer, Nishasht (starch/corn flour) and white cosmetic powder etc. and is making artificial Brown Sugar like substance,” reads a statement issued here.
“Thereafter, the said person was giving wrong information to law enforcement agencies in order to falsely implicate innocent persons. Accordingly, an FIR No. 14/2024 US 420 IPC has been registered in Police station Karnah and investigation taken up,” the statement reads.
“During the search of his premises, incriminating material (urea fertilizer, starch powder, white cosmetic powder) and cell phone has been seized for expert analysis,” reads the statement, adding, “further investigation in the case is underway.”
