Shopian: The Army’s 44 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) organized an Iftar gathering in Imamsahib, Shopian, on Sunday, where locals came together to break their fast during the ongoing month of Ramadan. The event saw participation from community members, including religious leaders and youth, fostering an opportunity for interaction between civilians and security personnel.
Arranged at a local Masjid, the gathering provided a platform for dialogue as people ended their day of fasting with traditional dates and refreshments. Army personnel were present throughout, engaging with the attendees and facilitating the event.
A local shopkeeper who attended the gathering shared, “Ramadan is a time for reflection and unity. Such events bring people together, but meaningful engagement should be consistent, not just occasionally.”
While some locals saw it as a goodwill gesture, others felt that true relationship-building requires sustained efforts. The gathering concluded with prayers and a meal shared among the attendees.
