Ex-MLA Budgam and former Cabinet Minister Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi is poised to get a mandate from Jammu and Kashmir National Conference for the upcoming Parliamentary seat for Baramulla seat, reliable sources said.
Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi is favourite as the top party leadership of JKNC has almost reached upon a consensus to nominate the well-known Shia cleric for the seat.
“The official nomination is expected to be made soon”, the sources told Alfaaz – The Words.
Notably, the Baramulla seat is currently occupied by veteran politician of JKNC Mohammad Akbar Lone – who however has been ailing for quite some time.
“Due to adverse health conditions, Mohammad Akbar Lone is less likely to get another nomination”, the sources said.
The bugle of Parliamentary awaiting implementation of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) is nevertheless expected to sounded anytime in next ten days and once the things become clear, the political activities across India as well as Jammu and Kashmir are expected to intensify.
