SRINAGAR: Electricity supply was affected in Srinagar and several other districts on Friday following strong gusty winds that damaged power infrastructure across Kashmir, the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited said.

In an official statement, the power utility said that damage to the distribution network led to outages in multiple areas as windstorms disrupted transmission and distribution systems. The corporation said its ground teams are working continuously in difficult weather conditions to restore the affected 33 kV feeders at the earliest.

KPDCL urged inhabitants to exercise caution and strictly avoid approaching fallen electric poles, hanging wires or damaged structures, warning that such hazards pose serious risks to public safety. People have been requested to immediately report any such incidents to the concerned authorities for prompt action.

The KPDCL appreciated the patience and cooperation of the public as restoration work continues amid adverse weather conditions, adding that efforts are being made to normalise electricity supply on priority as weather permits. [KNT]
