Two back-to-back Western Disturbances to cause widespread rain/snow in J&K

Under the influence of these 2 WDs, generally cloudy weather is expected on Friday, with chances of a light rain/snow shower in higher reaches. On 05 November, rain/snow activities will commence in the afternoon, however, will only become widespread from evening/night.

On 06 & 07 November, rain/snow activities will continue at most places.

Intensity of the systems will remain moderate with chances of heavy rain/snow at a few places.

Intensity of the system will be more over Kashmir region than Jammu region.

Higher reaches can receive snowfall up to 4 feet. Gulmarg and Sonamarg can see snow accumulations up to 1 foot. Pahalgam may also receive the season’s first good snowfall.

Regarding plains, there are 60% chances of snowfall over Shopian plains. For other plains, the chances of snowfall are between 20 – 40%. Initially, everywhere it will start with rain and can change to snow on 06/07 Nov.

It may lead to the temporary closure of Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
Damage to Orchards is also expected in a few areas.
