Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Anantnag have booked two prominent religious clerics Mushtaq Ahmad Veeri and Abdul Rashid Dawoodi over alleged use of inflammatory language against a specific community.
Anantnag police in a statement to the media said that, “derogatory remarks made by the clerics were brought to the attention of the Anantnag Police, who promptly initiated proceedings under the relevant provisions of the law.”
“The clerics have been bound down to prevent further inflammatory speech,” the statement reads.
“Anantnag Police is committed to maintaining communal harmony and ensuring the safety of all citizens. We urge the public to report any instances of hate speech or inflammatory language to the authorities immediately.”
“It is requested that everyone refrain from such behavior. The Police are dedicated to addressing and preventing hate speech to ensure peace and unity within the community,” reads the statement further.
