Lucknow: The Election Commission on Tuesday published the draft voter list for Uttar Pradesh as part of the ongoing SIR process. Over 2.89 crore voters have been removed from the voter list in the state. As many as 2.17 crore people have been permanently shifted while 46.23 lakh people have died, as per UP CEO Navdeep Rinwa, India TV reports.
Besides, 25.47 lakh people either have duplicate voter ID card or have been found to be missing.
The draft electoral roll was initially scheduled for publication on December 31.
Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh Navdeep Rinva had earlier informed that the period for receiving claims and objections has been set from January 6 to February 6, 2026. From 06 January to 27 February 2026, during the notice phase, the decision on the claims and objections was resolved.
The final publication of the electoral roll of Uttar Pradesh will be done on March 6, 2026, he said and added that all enumeration forms have been received and digitised. According to the revised timetable, the draft electoral roll in Uttar Pradesh will now be published today.
