SRINAGAR: The Sufi Coordination Committee in collaboration with Ehsaas Foundation today paid rich tributes to the legendary Kashmiri Sufi singer, Ghulam Ahmad Sofi, on his 20th death anniversary. Sofi, who passed away on September 15, 2005, is remembered for his soulful voice and immense contribution in keeping the tradition of Kashmiri Sufi music alive.
On this occasion, members of both organizations visited Sofi Sahab’s graveyard, where they offered floral tributes, prayers, and Fatiha in remembrance of his invaluable contribution to Kashmiri Sufi music.
Akhtar Hussain, Chairman of the Sufi Coordination Committee, said: “Sofi Sahab’s voice continues to echo in the hearts of Kashmiris. His contribution to Kashmiri Sufi music is timeless and will forever remain an inspiration for generations to come.”
Vice Chairman of Ehsaas Foundation, Burhan Nazir, in his message said: “Remembering Sofi Sahab is not just about recalling a great artist but about preserving and continuing the message of love, peace, and spirituality that he spread through his music.”
The organisations also pledged to work collectively for the preservation of Kashmiri art, culture, and Sufi traditions, ensuring that Sofi’s legacy continues to inspire future generations.
