South Kashmir Sqay Martial Arts Tournament Hosted by Indian Army and Sqay Martial Association Shopian Concludes; Jazeba Javid Clinches Champion Of Champions Title

The South Kashmir Sqay Martial Arts Tournament, organized by the Indian Army in collaboration with the Sqay Martial Association Shopian, came to a thrilling conclusion today at Government Higher Secondary School, Shopian.

Exhibiting remarkable skill and determination, participants from Shopian, Kulgam, Anantnag, and Pulwama showcased their prowess in this prestigious event.

Jazeba Javid, daughter of esteemed gynecologist Dr. Javid Ahmad and Dr. Aisha Javid, emerged as the champion of champions, securing the top honor in the competition. Hailing from the village of Shadi Mard, Jaziba comes from a family deeply rooted in education, with her grandfather, Khawaja Abdul Majeed Majrooh, being a renowned educationalist and esteemed poet of South Kashmir.

Recognizing her outstanding performance, Jaziba was awarded a cash reward and a trophy, symbolizing her excellence in the martial arts arena.

The event was a testament to the culmination of intense dedication from martial arts enthusiasts, and it was met with great enthusiasm by both participants and spectators alike.

Shopian district claimed an impressive 27 medals, followed by Pulwama with 15 medals, Kulgam with 4 medals, and Anantnag with 2 medals, showcasing the region’s talent and passion for martial arts.

Participants expressed their gratitude for such events, emphasizing the importance of sports in providing exposure and motivation for the youth of Kashmir. They highlighted sports as a constructive outlet, helping to steer the community away from negative influences.
