SHOPIAN: The District Administration of Shopian is all set to host its first-ever Winter Carnival at Dubjan along the scenic Mughal Road. The event is aimed at promoting tourism, culture, and community engagement in the district.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar is personally overseeing the preparations to ensure the event’s success. He recently chaired a high-level meeting with key officers, including the ADDC, ADC, ACR, and other district and sectoral officials, to finalize the arrangements.
The carnival promises an exciting lineup of activities, including snow crafts, snow igloos, ice sports, and competitions for children. It will also feature artistic performances, sports events, and exhibitions of local cuisine, food, and arts, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Shopian.
Locals have expressed their enthusiasm for the initiative. “We are very excited about the carnival. It’s the first time such an event is being organized in Dubjan, and it will definitely boost tourism in the district,” said a resident.
Another local, Aaqib, lauded the efforts of the district administration. “I was surprised when I heard about the carnival. The administration is truly working hard to support the local economy and provide opportunities for the community,” he said.
The Winter Carnival is expected to attract visitors from across the region, highlighting the natural beauty and cultural richness of Shopian while contributing to the district’s economic growth.
