SHOPIAN: Continuing its sustained efforts under the ongoing Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan, Shopian Police, in close coordination with the District Administration, has intensified its crackdown on drug-related activities across the district.

In a significant action, apple trees illegally planted on State land under the possession of Bashir Ahmad Ahanger, son of Ab Gani Ahanger, a resident of Trenz Imamsahib, were cut down during a joint operation conducted by Police and Revenue authorities. The individual is reportedly involved in FIR No. 07/2020 registered at Police Station Imamsahib.

Officials stated that the action was carried out following due legal procedure and in a transparent manner. Preliminary verification had revealed that the orchard had been unlawfully established on State land without proper authorization.

Reaffirming its commitment to eradicating the drug menace, Shopian Police emphasized that strict action will continue against individuals involved in narcotics-related activities, including the dismantling of illegally acquired assets.

The police have also urged the public to come forward with any information related to drug trafficking, assuring that all inputs will be handled with utmost confidentiality.
