SHOPIAN: In continuation to a series of events, massive awareness and orientation programmes conducted under National Road Safety Week, the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) Shopian today organized a Painting Competition at BCI Shopian.

The programme was organised to educate the public about the need to follow the traffic rules in letter and spirit.

Speaking on the occasion, the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Shopian, Muazzam Ali said that the “Road Safety Week” is being organized every year to educate people about the road safety measures besides providing an opportunity to take part in concerted efforts for the cause.

He stressed for complete adherence to traffic rules and regulations to avoid accidents, thus saving precious lives.

Highlighting the importance of National Road Safety Week, ARTO elaborated the activities that are going to reach the maximum number of road users and general public for enforcement of traffic norms. He said, awareness and orientations are essential in averting road mishaps.

In this regard, the Painting Competition in which 22 School going children participated was conducted at BCI Shopian.

The officers, officials and other concerned were present on the occasion.
