Srinagar: The residents of Newa and its adjoining areas of Southern Kashmir’s Pulwama district staged a protest against the PDD authorities for a sudden increase in the monthly electricity bills.
Srinagar based News Agency Kashmir Scroll quoted protester as saying “Up to last month, I used to pay bill of around Rs. 1300 only, however, this month I have got a bill of Rs. 1800,” this is gross injustice, he said.
“we will cooperate with the PDD department to install smart power meters”, another local said.
He further said that this step would give us fair and accurate charges.
They also complained about the condition of electric wires and poles.
However, officials were not available for the comment in this regard.
