Awantipora: The police in Awantipora have taken a significant step in the fight against terrorism by attaching the immovable property of an absconding terrorist.

An official told News Agency Kashmir Scroll that the attached property includes 1 kanal and 15 marlas of orchard land belonging to Feroz Ganie, the handler involved in various criminal activities.

He said under Section 83 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), the police in Awantipora obtained the order from the Hon’ble court of Additional Sessions Pulwama (NIA Court) to attach the property. Today, the order was executed by revenue authorities, in coordination with the police and village representatives.

The official said that Feroz Ganie, who has been declared a proclaimed offender by the Hon’ble special NIA Court Pulwama under Section 82 of the CrPC, is wanted in connection with FIR No. 36/2023. The case entails charges under Section 18, 20, 23, 25, 38, and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Section 7/25 of the Indian Arms Act. Despite repeated notices, the absconding terrorist failed to appear before the investigating agency, leading to his status as a proclaimed offender.

Feroz Ganie, a Pakistani-based terrorist, has been actively involved in promoting and reviving terrorist activities. His sinister activities include smuggling and facilitating the entry of arms and ammunition, as well as activating local terror networks the official further added. (KS)
