Srinagar: Solider who was injured during an encounter in Kowut Lolab area of North Kashmir Kupwara has succumbed to injuries.
Srinagar based news agency Kashmir Scroll quoted official sources as saying that a joint team of police and army launched a cordon and search operation in Lolab, after receiving specific input about the presence of terrorists in the area.
As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight, they said.
During exchange of fire one terrorist was killed while one Non Commissioned Officer (NCO) identified as Dilawer Singh of 28 RR was injured, he was shifted to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Operation in the area is going on.
