KULGAM: In combating drug abuse and promoting a healthy lifestyle among youth, Kulgam Police, under the aegis of Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2024-25, in collaboration with Government Degree College (GDC) Kulgam, organized an awareness programme under the banner of Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyaan.
The event aimed at educating students about the risks and consequences of substance abuse while encouraging them to adopt drug-free, healthy lifestyles. The programme witnessed the active participation of senior police officers including Additional SP NHW Qazigund, Shri Mumtaz Ali Bhatti (JKPS), and DySP DAR Kulgam, Shri Mohd Ayoub Rather, along with professors, lecturers, students, and other stakeholders.
Speakers at the event emphasized the urgent need to protect the younger generation from the perils of drug addiction, shedding light on its devastating impact on individuals, families, and society at large. They urged students to not only stay away from drugs but also to become ambassadors of change by spreading awareness in their communities.
A debate competition was also held as part of the programme, where students passionately shared their views and proposed thoughtful solutions to address the pressing issue of drug abuse.
The initiative reflects the commitment of Kulgam Police towards building a drug-free society and fostering stronger ties with the community, particularly the youth. Participants appreciated the police department for their proactive role in organizing such meaningful events.
At the conclusion of the event, the top three performers in the debate competition were felicitated with mementos and appreciation certificates. Participation certificates were also distributed to all attendees.
