Shopian: Long queues at the ticket counters of District Hospital Shopian have become a daily challenge for patients and attendants, causing significant inconvenience. Locals have alleged that the hospital administration has failed to manage the rush efficiently.

A female attendant, while expressing her frustration, said, “Long queues on ticket counters have become routine, creating immense hardships. I request the hospital administration to address the issue so that we can have some relief.”

When contacted, the Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Shopian acknowledged the problem but attributed it to an increase in patient footfall. “We have four counters as per guidelines, but our OPD attendance has surged from 730 to 1,600. I accept that there are queues at ticket counters, but they last for hardly an hour, after which everything runs smoothly. The issue arises due to more footfall”, he said.

“Additionally, our critical care unit is under construction, and once completed, these problems will be resolved,” he stated.

He further emphasized that inside the hospital, seating arrangements have been made for patients, and announcements are regularly made to maintain order. However, he pointed out that the lack of cooperation from the public also contributes to the disorder.

The locals have urged the administration to expedite solutions to ensure smoother operations at the hospital.
