KULGAM: In the quiet hamlets of South Kashmir, a young artist is turning the ancient art of calligraphy into a global conversation. Owais ur Reyaz, a resident of Hablishi, Kulgam, has emerged as a prominent name in the valley’s contemporary art scene, proving that passion and digital presence can take local talent far beyond borders.

A student of Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) at the Government Degree College Kulgam, Owais’s journey with the pen and ink began in his early childhood. What started as a hobby has evolved into a disciplined craft. For the past three years, he has utilized Instagram as his primary gallery, sharing his intricate strokes and creative compositions with an audience that transcends regional boundaries.
The digital shift has paid off. Owais has successfully turned his artistic flair into a flourishing venture, fulfilling numerous customized orders. His work is no longer confined to the walls of Kashmiri homes; he has successfully delivered commissioned pieces to art enthusiasts outside Jammu & Kashmir, marking his presence on the national art map.

Over the years, he has won top positions in various calligraphy competitions and showcased his work in prestigious exhibitions, earning praise for his precision and unique style.
