SRINAGAR: The Meteorological Department (MeT) Srinagar has issued an extended weather forecast for Jammu and Kashmir, indicating predominantly cloudy conditions across the Valley in the coming days, along with the possibility of light snowfall over isolated higher reaches.

According to the MeT, December 9 will remain partly to generally cloudy, with no major weather activity expected.

From December 10 to 12, the weather is likely to stay partly cloudy, offering brief intervals of sunshine but mostly overcast skies across Kashmir.

A change in conditions is expected between December 13 and 15, when the MeT has forecast partly to generally cloudy skies, accompanied by a possibility of very light snowfall over isolated higher reaches of North and Central Kashmir, particularly during the late-night and early morning hours.

The pattern of partly cloudy weather is projected to continue from December 16 to 19, maintaining cold daytime temperatures across the region.

On December 20, the department anticipates generally cloudy conditions towards the evening, while December 21 and 22 may witness partly to generally cloudy skies, with a chance of light snowfall at isolated higher reaches.

Fog Advisory Issued

The MeT has also issued an advisory, warning of shallow to moderate fog likely to persist at several places in the Kashmir division and isolated pockets of the Jammu division. The foggy conditions may reduce visibility during morning and evening hours, affecting transportation and daily movement.

The weather department has urged commuters, especially those traveling during early morning and late evening, to exercise caution.
