Shopian: The residents of Kansoo village in Shopian are grappling with a severe water crisis, leaving them without drinking water for the last 10 days.

The scarcity has forced women in the village to collect water from local streams for washing purposes, while drinking water remains scarce and distant.

Suhail Shabir, a local resident, expressed his frustration, saying, “Our village has been without water for the last 10 days. We don’t even have water for basic washing needs. Women are compelled to walk long distances to collect water from streams. We urge the administration to resolve this issue at the earliest.”

When contacted, Executive Engineer PHE, Ab Rashid assured that the department is taking necessary measures to address the crisis. He said, “We are currently commissioning new pipelines to ensure a better water supply for Kansoo. We deeply regret the inconvenience caused to the residents”.

“Our team is working round the clock to complete the work as soon as possible. In the meantime, we will send water tankers to provide temporary relief to the affected areas”, he further said

The residents have urged the authorities to expedite the process to bring an end to their ordeal.
