SRINAGAR: The Jammu & Kashmir Employees Joint Consultative Committee (JKEJCC) on Thursday appealed to employees across the Union Territory to participate in a symbolic two-hour pen-down strike scheduled for today from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm.
The JKEJCC according to news agency Kashmir Dot Com, said the programme is aimed at drawing the government’s attention towards long-pending demands concerning the welfare, security, and dignity of employees, including timely release of GPF bills, restoration of SRO-43 in its original form, regularisation of temporary employees such as FPS dealers and contractual staff, extension of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) to all employees, leave encashment for teachers at par with other departments, and freedom to open salary accounts in banks of their choice, ending the monopoly of J&K Bank.
Calling upon employees to make the strike a success, the JKEJCC said: “This symbolic pen-down strike is not merely a protest but a call for justice, fairness, and dignity. United participation will send a strong and clear message to the authorities that employees cannot be ignored.” (KDC)
