SRINAGAR: Jammu Kashmir National Conference MP Syed Aga Ruhullah Mehdi on Monday urged the central government in Parliament to grant a one-time age relaxation for aspirants of the Jammu and Kashmir Police Sub-Inspector posts. Representing Jammu and Kashmir, Mehdi raised the issue, highlighting the plight of thousands of candidates who have become ineligible due to exceeding the upper age limit, a consequence of prolonged delays in the recruitment process.

Mehdi emphasised that these delays have denied many qualified and dedicated individuals the opportunity to serve in the police force. He argued that the disrupted timelines have created disillusionment and uncertainty among aspirants, leaving the youth of Jammu and Kashmir increasingly anxious about their futures.

Mehdi appealed for a fair resolution, stating that a one-time age relaxation would restore faith in the recruitment system and provide a much-needed morale boost to the affected candidates. He urged the government of India and the Home Minister to intervene, stressing the need to address the unique challenges faced by the region’s youth and take immediate corrective measures. -(KL)
