JAMMU: National Conference chief spokesperson and MLA Tanvir Sadiq on Wednesday reacted sharply to allegations by Rajya Sabha Member Ghulam Ali Khatana regarding denial of accommodation in Srinagar and Jammu.
Speaking to reporters outside assembly complex in Jammu, Sadiq said, “Even if he has applied, he should not be given accommodation here. He should seek accommodation from the Uttar Pradesh government.”
He further said that Khatana was nominated to the Rajya Sabha to represent tribals, Gujjars and other marginalized communities of Jammu and Kashmir. “The fact is that he lives here, his family lives here, but when it comes to allocating funds, he spends them in Uttar Pradesh. If that is the case, why apply for accommodation in J&K?” Sadiq questioned.
He added that out of nine nominated MPs, Khatana is the only one who is allocating funds outside the Union Territory. “In a state like Uttar Pradesh, which already has 90 MPs, he is spending funds there, while in J&K where the need is greater he has not utilized them,” Sadiq alleged.
Calling it a reflection of “New India,” Sadiq remarked, “This is what they call New India ignore Jammu and Kashmir and give everything elsewhere.” (KNC)
