POONCH: Continuous heavy rainfall since last night has caused multiple road blockages across Rajouri district, disrupting vehicular movement in several areas.
Quoting officials, news agency Kashmir News Corner-(KNC) reported that the Kotranka–Khawas road has been closed at Kanja, while the Rajouri-Thanamandi-Surankote road remains shut following a landslide between DKG and Bufliyaz.
They said the Ghambir Mughlan-Thanamandi road is also blocked at several points, including Bhattian Morh and adjoining stretches, due to mudslides and debris.
Restoration work has been initiated, and the administration has urged commuters to avoid unnecessary travel on affected routes until clearance is completed.
Schools Closed
In view of the prevailing weather conditions, authorities in Poonch has ordered the closure of all government and private schools in the district on Tuesday.
According to CEO Poonch, on directions of Deputy Commissioner Poonch, in view of the prevailing weather conditions, all schools (Govt./Pvt). in District Poonch shall remain closed today, on 12th August 2025, as a precautionary measure.
The decision has been taken to ensure the safety of students and staff amid the current weather situation.
The administration has advised residents to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel in vulnerable areas.
Similarly, Chief Education Officer Rajouri announced that all educational institutions in the district will remain closed today in view of the weather conditions.
