SRINAGAR: In a major step toward transforming highway travel across India, the government has announced a FASTag-based Annual Pass priced at ₹3,000, designed exclusively for non-commercial private vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans. The pass will be effective from August 15, 2025, and is valid for one year from the date of activation or for up to 200 trips, whichever is earlier.
The announcement was made by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, who emphasized that the initiative will lead to faster, more convenient, and cost-effective travel across the country’s vast National Highway network.
“This policy addresses long-standing concerns regarding toll plazas within a 60 km range and simplifies toll payments through a single, affordable transaction,” said Gadkari in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
According to the ministry, the Annual Pass will help reduce waiting times and congestion at toll plazas, while also minimizing disputes and improving overall travel efficiency.
A dedicated link for activation and renewal will soon be available on the Rajmarg Yatra App, as well as the official websites of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH).
