SHOPIAN: In a decisive move to enforce regulatory compliance and safeguard public interest, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Zainapora, Bilal Ahmed, today led a joint operation with the Drug Control Authorities Shopian, resulting in the closure of four medical establishments, including a wholesale drug dealer.
The enforcement drive aimed to ensure strict adherence to the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, with particular focus on the maintenance of NRx Scheduled H1 records, proper GST labelling, and compliance with GST rates.
During inspections, several violations were detected, including poor record-keeping, absence of computerized billing systems, and non-functional CCTV cameras, leading to immediate sealing of the non-compliant establishments.
SDM Bilal Ahmed and the Drug Control Officer reaffirmed their commitment to upholding strict regulatory standards within the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors. They emphasized that such enforcement actions will continue to ensure accountability and protect public health.
All medical store owners have been advised to strictly comply with existing rules and regulations to avoid similar punitive action. The officials stressed that compliance is essential not only for legal conformity but also for maintaining the integrity of the pharmaceutical supply chain and patient safety.
This enforcement drive was conducted in line with directions issued by Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Shishir Gupta, during the recent NCORD (National Coordination Committee on Drug Abuse Control) meeting.
