Pulwama: In a significant political development, Dr. Talat Majeed, a former member of the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI), has filed his nomination as an independent candidate for the Pulwama Assembly constituency in the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir elections.
“We have to look at the situation from a geopogeopolitical perspective,” Dr. Majeed said while addressing a gathering of supporters after filing his nomination papers.
“I understood the developments happening in the geopolitical scenarios, then I thought we should get into the mainstream.” He highlighted the importance of political engagement for addressing the region’s issues and representing the aspirations of the people in a rapidly evolving political landscape.
This shift is seen as a significant moment in the politics of South Kashmir, where the Jamaat-e-Islami has historically held considerable influence in the valley. -(KDC)
