Srinagar: The bail plea of winning independent candidate from north Kashmir’s Baramulla Parliamentary seat, Sheikh Abdul Rashid aka Er Rashid, is scheduled to be heard in a few hours’ time.
The development comes a day after Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Chander Jit Singh sought the response of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in the case.
As learnt, NIA’s Investigating Officer has requested until this afternoon to file a response in the case, while Rashid’s counsel proposed addressing the matter later in the day ensuring that the response would be submitted during that time.
The case has now been set to be heard at 3:15 PM today – also confirmed by Awami Ittehad Party Spokesperson Firdous Ahmad Baba.
Notably, Rashid emerged victorious from north Kashmir’s Lok Sabha seat in the recently concluded Lok Sabha election. He defeated former J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah by over two lakh votes.
