Four soldiers were killed while three were injured in an ongoing encounter in Surankote Poonch, top officials said.
Srinagar based news agency Kashmir Scroll quoted officials as saying that four soldiers were killed while three more soldiers were undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
They said that the whole area is under cordon and search operation is going on.
Soldiers who lost their lives were identified as Birendra Singh, Karan Kumar, Chandan Kumar and Gautam Kumar while injured were identified as Sundeep Kumar, Shyam Sundar Das and Todmal Dnyaneshwar Bhaskarrav.
Earlier, an army official said that an army party came under attack during an anti-terror operation in the Surankote area at DKG (Dera Ki Gali) on Thursday.
“An encounter is underway at the site to neutralize the terrorists”, the officials added.
