Bandipora: The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has initiated an inquiry into the 21-year unauthorized absence of a teacher, Arsullah Habib, from Primary School Aragam in Bandipora. The investigation follows DSEK’s recent directive to repatriate teaching and non-teaching staff to their original postings.
Despite clear instructions, several teachers have reportedly resisted rejoining their designated schools. A preliminary report from the District Vigilance Officer and Deputy CEO Bandipora highlighted the need for a thorough probe into the matter. Subsequently, Joint Director (North) Hakeem Tanveer has been appointed as the inquiry officer to investigate Habib’s prolonged absence and examine lapses in monitoring by responsible officials.
The inquiry officer has been tasked with submitting a detailed report with recommendations within 10 days. Meanwhile, DSEK has set up zonal, district, and divisional committees to oversee teacher attendance and school performance, mandating monthly reports for further action.
Notably, after the repatriation orders were issued, Arsullah Habib had managed to secure an additional assignment in the Deputy Commissioner’s office, raising further questions about administrative oversight. (CNS)
