SHOPIAN: The District Administration Shopian on Friday issued a weather advisory in view of the alert and warning from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Srinagar Station, forecasting widespread light to moderate rain and snow over higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir, including Shopian, from October 5 to 7, 2025, with peak activity expected from the night of October 5 to the morning of October 7.
Considering the potential risks associated with the predicted weather conditions, the administration has urged the general public to exercise utmost caution and follow precautionary measures.
Residents, especially those living in hilly and higher-altitude areas, have been strongly advised to suspend all farming and outdoor activities during the forecast period. People have also been urged to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel, particularly in landslide-prone areas.
The administration has directed all executing agencies including PWD, MED, BRO, and Municipal Council to activate men, machinery, and trained personnel on priority. All concerned staff have been instructed to remain stationed at their respective headquarters to ensure uninterrupted public service delivery. Meanwhile, District Control Rooms and Disaster Management Teams have been placed on high alert.
