Srinagar: In a significant development, just days after the Government of Jammu and Kashmir amended Panchayati Raj Rules, 1996, a ‘no confidence’ motion is likely to be moved against DDC Chairman and Vice Chairman in Srinagar tomorrow.

As learnt from sources, the members of the DDC council have expressed their ‘dissatisfaction’ with the overall work and functioning of the body led by DDC Chairman Mohammad Aftab Malik and Vice Chairman Bilal Ahmad Bhat – both belonging to Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari led Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party.

If sources are to be believed, both (Chairman and Vice Chairman) are unlikely to stand the test, even as all the other members belonging to the same party are likely to get a berth to the top posts.

The motion is likely to be introduced before incumbent Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr. Bilal Bhat, tomorrow afternoon.

Notably, the development comes just days after the Government of Jammu and Kashmir amended Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Rules, 1996, empowering the DDC members by defining the rules for removal of the Chairpersons and the Vice Chairpersons.
