The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya today chaired a meeting of the District Level Advisory Committee (DLAC) on Food safety at Mini Secretariat Arhama, here.

At the outset, a detailed presentation was given by Secretary DLAC, Assistant Commissioner Food Safety, Gh Qadir Azhar.

On the occasion, the DC held one-to-one interaction with each member of the Committee and directed the enforcement agencies to adhere to their roles in implementing the Food Safety Act and reviewed the measures taken for food safety in the district.

The DC directed to book those involved in adulteration of food items and impose penalties under the FSSAI Act. He also directed for speeding up the market checks to ensure that safe and proper hygienic food items are sold to customers.

Viewing seriously on repeated offences, the DC directed the concerned officers to cancel the licenses of the regular offenders and seal their shops.

Food analyst Kashmir (Member DLAC) submitted the proposal for coordinated effort for safe and wholesome food to the general public, particularly staple foods like breads and meat. In this regard DC gave necessary instructions to respective departments for its effective implementation

The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner, Shopian, Manzoor Hussain; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Shopian, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani,  (Also Adjudicating Officer, Food Safety); ASP, Shopian, Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety (Member Secretary DLAC), Food Analyst Kashmir, General Manager DIC, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, Food Safety Officer, Shopian, and other district officers.
