SRINAGAR: A student from Jammu and Kashmir allegedly died by suicide in his hostel room at a private college in Jhanjeri, Mohali, after being caught cheating during an examination.
The deceased, identified as Aryan Razdan, was a second-year BBA student. According to police reports, Aryan was discovered using a mobile phone to cheat during an exam by an invigilator. Distressed over the incident, he reportedly returned to his hostel room and later took his own life by hanging.
Fellow students raised the alarm after noticing Aryan’s prolonged absence. On checking his room, they found him unresponsive and immediately informed college authorities.
During the investigation, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kharar, Karan Singh Sandhu, confirmed that anti-depressant medication was recovered from the student’s room. The body was transferred to the mortuary at the Civil Hospital in Kharar. -(KL)
